What is an Instagram hack?

An Instagram hack is when someone else gains access to your account without your permission, kind of like if someone stole the key to your diary [1][4]. They can then change your password, read your messages, post things pretending to be you, or even lock you out of your own account [1][4].

How do hackers get in?

Hackers trick people into giving them passwords by pretending to be Instagram staff, or they guess weak passwords, or they use stolen information from other websites where you used the same password [4][8].
