ELI5: blockchain
// explanation
What is blockchain?
Blockchain is like a notebook that many people share and keep copies of, where everyone writes down transactions or information [4][2]. Once something is written in this notebook, nobody can erase it or change it, making it super secure [2][5].
Why does it matter?
Instead of trusting one bank or company to keep track of money or records, lots of computers all work together to make sure everything is correct [4][5]. It's like having lots of friends all checking your homework instead of just your teacher [2].
How does it work?
When someone wants to add information, all the computers in the network check that it's real and honest [4]. Once everyone agrees it's good, the information gets locked together with special codes so nobody can sneak in and change old records [4][2].
What can you use it for?
Blockchain keeps track of money (like Bitcoin), but it can also store any important information safely, like contracts, ownership records, or medical history [5][2].
