What is card counting?
Card counting is keeping track of which cards have already been played in blackjack so you know what cards are probably left in the deck [3][5]. It's like remembering which toys you've already pulled out of a toy box so you know what's still inside [3].
Why does it help you win?
In blackjack, high cards (like 10s and Aces) are better for the player, while low cards are better for the dealer [5]. By remembering which cards came out, you can figure out if more high cards or low cards are left, which tells you whether to bet big or small [1][3].
How do you actually count?
You give each card a number value: low cards get +1, high cards get -1, and middle cards get 0 [5]. Then you just keep a running total in your head as cards are dealt, so you always know if the remaining deck is good or bad for you [1].
