ELI5: flashcards
// explanation
What are flashcards?
Flashcards are cards with a question on one side and an answer on the other side, kind of like a game where you try to remember the answer before you flip it over [1][2]. They help you learn by testing yourself over and over until the information sticks in your brain.
Why do flashcards work?
Your brain gets better at remembering things when you practice recalling them, and flashcards make this fun and easy [1]. Every time you guess the answer, your brain gets stronger at remembering it, just like your muscles get stronger when you exercise.
What can you use them for?
You can make flashcards for anything you want to memorizeโspelling words, math facts, vocabulary, languages, or science facts [2][3][5]. Teachers and students create them for almost any subject you can think of.
Where do you get them?
You can buy physical flashcards at stores, or you can use free websites and apps like Quizlet where you can make your own digital flashcards and study them on your computer or phone [1][2][5].
