What is an Earthset?

An Earthset is when you see Earth going down below the horizon, just like a sunset, but instead of being on Earth looking at the sun, you're on the Moon or in space looking at Earth [2][5]. The Artemis II astronauts captured the first photos of this amazing view showing our blue planet with white clouds disappearing behind the Moon's surface [2][4].

Why is it special?

We usually see sunsets from Earth, but this is the opposite—it's like Earth is setting instead of the sun [2]. The astronauts took these pictures while flying around the far side of the Moon, which is something humans have never photographed before [4][5].

What does it look like?
