ELI5: calculus
// explanation
What is calculus?
Calculus is a type of math that helps us understand how things change and move [1]. It's like learning to predict where a ball will go after you throw it, or how fast a car is speeding up at any exact moment [1][3].
Why do we need it?
In the real world, almost everything is constantly changing—the speed of a car, the amount of money in your bank account, or how tall you're growing [1]. Calculus gives us special tools to understand these changes precisely [1].
What can you do with it?
Calculus helps doctors figure out how quickly medicine spreads through your body, helps engineers build bridges that won't break, and helps scientists understand how planets move [1][3].
Why is it hard?
Calculus uses ideas that are tricky to picture in your head, like infinity and super tiny pieces of things [1]. But once you get it, you can solve problems that seem impossible at first [3].
